Eventually some officers come to view themselves as the victim. Officers may feel that no one understands what they experience out on the job. Instead, they turn to each other to solve their problems, thereby losing the emotional support of family and friends. Dr. Gilmartin is a behavioral scientist specializing in law enforcement related issues. He previously spent 20 years working in law enforcement in Tucson, Arizona.
